BACKGROUND:
The Shoreditch Trust maps are published every month in Shoreditch and Clerkenwell to promote local businesses and events. Each month they commission local artists to illustrate these free handouts.

BRIEF:
To create illustration for the february issue of the Clerkenwell and the Shoreditch Maps. The theme of the Clerkenwell map is St. Valentine.

CONCEPT & IDEAS:
We had a specific theme for the Clerkenwell map being St. Valentines. We researched the history of Clerkenwell and found that the area has been habitet by a lot of authors and poets through the times. In that occasion we made illustrations of the romantic side of love for the St. Valentines issue. We also did a series of photographs portraying romantic hidden spots around in Clerkenwell. For the Shoreditch map we created illustrations based on the naughty side of love since Shoreditch is an old red light district. Our initial illustration had more fallic symbols than the published one, but since this map is free and available for all ages we had to do a few alterations.
