ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP: The EYE project is aiming to work towards the betterment of ones community through economic participation, public services, voluntary work and other such effort to improve life for all citizens. Chose to take action, better your environment! We are working hard to raise funds to run a creative workshop for youth at the Gol de Letra Foundation situated in favela Vila Albertina, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The foundation is set up by footballers Leonardo and Rai to bring sport, education, culture, art and creativity into the lives of many young Brazilian children and adolescents who have little if any opportunity of developing in these areas themselves. The foundation operate with the support from private businesses. Together they work successfully since 1998 to bring additional knowledge to communities that is deprived from the governmental system. Gol de Letra collaborate with faciliators from around the world to introduce cultural exchange. We have been at the foundation at several occasions and decided to make a project tailored for Gol de Letra to show our support. Our workshop programme main aim is to encourage the youth to be an active citizen and better their environment. We call the project Embellish Your Environment and are introducing craft, creativity and recycling as core skills. The EYE project is short for Embellish Your Environment. We want to introduce a workshop programme that in long term is encouraging a sustainable environment. The EYE project shall be a research platform for waste management and work for less landfills and more greens by being creative in the re-use of waste materials. We believe as designers we have an analytical and creative mind that can be beneficial in development work.
